Emotional Reactivity

I just read a wonderful writing from Ram Dass on emotions, how to accept your emotion without acting upon it and at the same time without pushing it down. I, myself struggle with acceptance, acceptance of myself, others, not reacting to other peoples actions towards me or others. I also try to bury emotions and that is not healthy either. Please read this wonderful piece by Ram Dass:

During my studies on my path to become a yoga instructor we briefly studied all different types of yoga, and Bhakti held a particular draw for me. I visited Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, CA and loved the energy in the yoga studio. I so wish I lived closer to go back. Bhakti yoga is based on love. The Wikipedia definition of Bhakti: is a spiritual path described in Hindu philosophy as efficacious for fostering love of, faith in, and surrender to God.The exact definition of bhakti yoga can be spelled as ” a devotional service of Bhagavan ( God )with no other motivations than to just please the Supreme Lord.[1] It is a means to realize God,[2] and is the easiest way for the common person because it doesn’t involve extensive yogic practices.[1]

The Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavata Purana and Puranas[2] are important scriptures which expound the philosophy of Bhakti.[3] Hindu movements in which bhakti is the main practice are called bhakti movements—the major schools are Vaishnavism, Shaivism, and Shaktism.[4]

Perhaps we all should take a step back before reacting, find the love in everything we do.
